Super Meat Boy 3D is the long-awaited third mainline installment in the Super Meat Boy franchise, developed by Sluggerfly in close collaboration with Team Meat โ the original creators. Released on March 31, 2026, for PC (Steam & Epic), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, this game takes the punishing precision platforming that defined the series and transforms it into a fully three-dimensional experience.
You play as Meat Boy, a small dark-red cube of animated meat on a desperate mission to rescue his heavily-bandaged girlfriend Bandage Girl from the clutches of the villainous Dr. Fetus. The campaign spans multiple distinct worlds, each with a unique visual theme, enemy roster, and escalating difficulty. True to the series DNA, there are no checkpoints and no health bars โ one touch of a hazard means instant death and instant respawn.
Super Meat Boy 3D was built using Unreal Engine 5, giving it a visually detailed style that modernizes the franchise while preserving the iconic raw-meat aesthetic. The fixed-camera level structure draws clear inspiration from Super Mario 3D World, making it more approachable than a full open-world 3D platformer while keeping every second of gameplay intensely skill-focused.
The game was first unveiled on June 8, 2025 during the Xbox Summer Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, and a playable demo launched on Steam on December 11, 2025. It is available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
