World 1 โ The Forest
Where the Meat Meets the Saw: Complete Forest Walkthrough
The Forest is the opening world of Super Meat Boy 3D and serves as the game's mechanical foundation. Dr. Fetus has set the woodland ablaze with his machines, and Meat Boy must navigate a gauntlet of spinning saw blades, fire pits, and falling burning logs to rescue Bandage Girl. Every mechanic introduced in The Forest is a building block for everything that follows.
This complete Super Meat Boy 3D Forest walkthrough covers all 20 Light World levels, bandage locations, hazard patterns, and the chapter boss. The Forest's levels are grouped into four sections of five levels each, with a brief Dr. Fetus cutscene between sections.
The Forest's primary hazard vocabulary is circular saw blades on fixed loop paths. Learning to read a saw blade's full loop before moving is the single most valuable skill you will take from World 1 into the rest of the game.

๐ฟ Section 1 โ Levels 1-1 to 1-5
The gentlest introduction in the game. Levels 1-1 through 1-3 have single saw blades and generous platform spacing designed to teach wall-jumping without pressure. Levels 1-4 and 1-5 introduce two saw blades simultaneously on crossing loop paths.
First Steps
๐ก The saw blade completes its loop in exactly 3 seconds. Count the loop twice before moving. Your wall-jump destination is the platform to the upper right โ jump to the left wall first, then redirect right.
Complete the standard route but carry extra jump height off the first wall by timing your jump at the top of the wall slide. The bandage is 2 wall-jumps above the standard path.
Saw Garden
๐ก The two saws are on offset timers โ one descends while the other rises. The safe path is a 1-second window when both saws are at opposite extremes. Watch for this window from the starting platform before moving.
Time your jump through the bandage during the same safe window. You'll need to dash-grab through the gap โ don't stop moving.
Log Run
๐ก Logs fall at 1-second intervals from the right side. Move in bursts between log falls โ 3 steps forward, pause on a platform, let the log pass, repeat. The saw blade at the end is stationary until you step on the trigger platform.
Rush past the first log spawn immediately at level start before the first log falls. The bandage is on the platform directly behind where logs spawn.
Crossing Paths
๐ก The crossing point of the two saw blades is in the center of the arena. Both saws cross at the exact same time, creating a single moment of danger. Pass through the center immediately after both saws cross โ the 0.8-second window before they return is sufficient for a dash.
Wait for both saws to cross and return to opposite sides, then dash vertically through the crossing point to grab the bandage mid-air.
The First Climb
๐ก This level introduces the first fire pit โ floor level instadeath. The three saw blades are at low, mid, and high heights. Use wall-jumping on the left wall to ascend past all three without engaging the fire pit. The exit is at the top right.
Time a dash through the high saw blade's gap and grab the bandage before the saw returns.
๐ฅ Section 2 โ Levels 1-6 to 1-10
Fire pits become a permanent fixture from level 1-6 onward. The platform design forces Meat Boy to navigate above floor-level instadeath zones using wall-jump chains. Level 1-7 formally introduces the Ground Slam mechanic.
Fire Floor
๐ก The entire floor is fire โ there is no standing on the ground in this level. Begin by jumping immediately to the left wall. All movement is wall-to-wall. The two saw blades are both on the left side; pass them by timing your wall-jump when both saws are at the top of their loops.
After clearing the left wall saw section, wall-jump to the right wall and climb to the bandage before continuing to the exit above.
Slam Introduction
๐ก This level explicitly teaches Ground Slam: a vertical shaft with saws on both left and right walls alternating at different heights. The fastest path is to slam down through the saw gaps rather than carefully timing each saw individually. Slam timing: descend to just above each saw pair's gap before slamming through.
After the second saw pair, instead of continuing down, dash sideways into the alcove. The bandage is inside. Slam out from the alcove to continue.
Moving Platforms
๐ก The spike platforms move in pairs โ each pair oscillates in opposite directions. Jump onto a platform when it is at its lowest point and ride it upward. Jump to the next platform at the top of the oscillation to maximize your horizontal reach.
Ride the third platform to its peak and grab the bandage, then immediately jump to the fourth platform before the third descends into a saw blade.
Dash Panel Highway
๐ก First level with multiple floor dash panels in sequence. Build momentum using each dash panel and chain your dashes โ land โ dash panel triggers โ airborne โ land โ next dash panel. Do not attempt to walk between dash panels.
Use the third dash panel's boost to reach the alcove โ the standard trajectory puts you at bandage height if you don't redirect the dash.
Wall Run Debut
๐ก The first level that requires a wall run to complete. The central gap cannot be crossed with any jump or dash combination. Enter the left wall at full run speed, wall-run across, and jump to the right platform as the wall run nears its end. The saw blades below are there to punish failed wall runs โ don't look down.
The bandage is inline with the wall run path โ simply collect it during the run. Do not slow down to grab it; it will auto-collect as you pass.
๐ Section 3 โ Levels 1-11 to 1-15
All five core mechanics are now in play simultaneously. Levels in this section combine saw blades, fire pits, moving platforms, dash panels and wall runs into cohesive challenges. The difficulty spikes noticeably at 1-13.
Combination Lock
๐ก Take the route that eliminates one hazard type per segment: clear the saw section, then the fire section, then the moving platform section. Don't try to handle multiple hazard types simultaneously.
Jump from the last moving platform with full height and dash to the bandage platform. This requires a dash-cancel jump.
Spiral Saws
๐ก The five saws spiral inward โ they are all moving toward the center simultaneously. The safe path is the outer edge of the arena, tracing the wall perimeter. Move fast; the saws' spiral tightens over time.
Only attempt after clearing the level once. Enter the center at the widest point of the spiral and exit immediately after grabbing.
The Gauntlet
๐ก This is the first 'endurance' level โ longer than any previous level with no natural pause points. Memorize it in three segments: entry saw section, middle fire-and-platform section, final wall-run exit. Run each segment 10 times in isolation before attempting the full clear.
Requires a slam-launch from the last moving platform to reach the bandage height. Very hard โ save for a dedicated bandage run.
Mirror Maze
๐ก The symmetric layout means every mistake on the left side has an exact mirror on the right. Learn one side perfectly and apply it to the other โ same timing, same technique, mirrored direction.
Approach from either side at the midpoint โ grab during a jump over the central saw blade.
Pre-Boss Sprint
๐ก This level is designed as a final skill check before the boss. Every obstacle appears in its hardest configuration. If you can clear 1-15 consistently, you are ready for The Stumper.
Post-clear only โ dash through the final saw gap and to the top-right corner before the level exit.
๐ Section 4 โ Levels 1-16 to 1-20
The final section of The Forest Light World. Levels here are the most complex in the world and serve as direct preparation for the Dark Forest. Level 1-20 is the gateway to The Stumper boss fight.
Falling Forest
๐ก Log debris falls pseudo-randomly but has a limited spawn zone. Stay in the outer thirds of the arena โ the center column is the heaviest debris zone.
A dedicated risk run โ rush to center, grab bandage, dash out immediately.
Saw Symphony
๐ก Seven saws move in a coordinated wave pattern. Watch 2 full wave cycles before moving โ the wave creates a travelling gap you can follow through the arena.
After identifying the wave gap, dash opposite its direction during the gap's return travel. Very precise timing required.
Fire and Ice
๐ก Ice platforms are introduced here โ Meat Boy slides further and stops more slowly. Account for the added slide distance on every landing: aim to land slightly before your target and slide into position.
Approach from the opposite direction to your landing skid โ let the slide carry you to the bandage rather than fighting it.
The Long Wall
๐ก This is a pure wall-jump endurance test. The rhythm is: jump right wall, dodge saw, jump left wall, dodge saw, repeat 8 times. Set a consistent rhythm โ rushing leads to saw collisions.
On the 4th wall-jump cycle, continue climbing the 'dead end' wall rather than redirecting โ it leads to a hidden platform with the bandage.
Into the Stumps
๐ก The final level before The Stumper. It is the hardest level in The Forest Light World. Treat it as a boss-preparation exercise โ focus on clean execution rather than speed. The exit leads directly to the boss arena.
Only for 100% completionists โ highly risky detour on an already demanding level. Come back with Dr. Fetus Jr. for the speed needed to route the bandage safely.
Boss: The Stumper
